Save Cannaworld

The Issue

Hello all,

On June 16th, OCM, NYS police and the tax police, conducted an "inspection" of Cannaworld in park slope. Not really an inspection, more of a raid, since we were operating for nearly 3 years and treated like any other small business. Eric Adams and the Hochul administration instituted "Padlock to Protect" law, which was to shut down unlicensed cannabis shops, which they called a "nuisance". Cannaworld did not fit that criteria. We have 0 community complaints against us (911 or 311), we paid taxes like any other business (we have an orange card) and even got DCA inspections. Children were kept out by use of electronic locks and we maintained a strict policy of IDing and maintained a database of fake IDs to keep my staff up-to-date on what to look out for. Nobody in the community asked for us to be shut down and we only were to prop up New York States failing and corrupt licensing system. We are asking that you sign this petition and demand the city and state leave your favorite store alone. With all the problems nyc is facing right now, Cannaworld is not even on the list. Election season is upon us and if your local leaders become aware of how many of their constituents want us here, they will act accordingly.

I also would like to point out that the states own cannabis laws don't make sense and are completely arbitrary. Alcohol is worse than thc, yet it's easier to get a liquor license than it is a cannabis one.

We're just another small locally owned business on the avenue. We don't have political connections to protect us, so this becomes the power of the people. We need your support. Shutting down small locally owned businesses to protect state enterprises is the height of corruption and if you knew how deep it really goes, you'd be horrified (I speak to people trying to get into the licensed industry).

To all our friends in park slope:

We need you. The power of the people is greater than you can know and if the revolution starts outside a little pot shops in park, so be it.
