On April 28, 2026, the California Lutheran University administration, abruptly announced the discontinuation of the intercollegiate women’s lacrosse program which was effective immediately. This decision was made without sufficient transparency or meaningful engagement with impacted student-athletes, alumni, and community stakeholders, and has raised serious concerns regarding institutional priorities and equity within athletics. The Regals Lacrosse program has played a significant role in fostering leadership, academic achievement, and successful growth, while also contributing to the campus diversity and the broader university community. We, the signatories, call on the administration to reconsider this decision and to engage in an open and collaborative dialogue regarding the future of the program and the preservation of opportunities for current and future student-athletes.
