Save Cafe Bohemia

The Issue

Cafe Bohemia is a historic jazz venue in the heart of Greenwich Village that is massively important for the contemporary jazz scene in NYC.  Countless musicians have been able to share their love of music with eager audiences, keeping this uniquely American genre alive in the 21st century and introducing new listeners to jazz.  Famous recordings have been made at the club, such as Mingus at the Bohemia (1955) and many, many others.  It holds a high rank of esteem in the jazz community, and has survived (and thrived!) being moved down to the basement in a pseudo-speakeasy under the Barrow St Ale House.

Unfortunately Bohemia recently announced that they will be closing at the end of this month due to complications with the venue owner.

While this is not the last jazz club left in Greenwich Village, they are a dwindling breed.  Bohemia has always fostered a loyal following with its impeccable music bookings, cordial staff, and uniquely historic atmosphere.  Please sign this petition to show your support for NYC jazz, working musicians, and the survival of this art form into the future.  This is our opportunity tell the ownership that this place is special, Jazz is special, and it needs to have a home at Cafe Bohemia.

Please leave a note on why Jazz at Bohemia is important to you, it will be passed along with the signatures!
