Save Bucksburn Swimming Pool

Save Bucksburn Swimming Pool

The Issue

Bucksburn Swimming Pool is a bright and 25 metre pool located within the Bucksburn Community Campus. The centre offers a varied timetable, including popular accessible swimming sessions, a strong swimming lesson programme and is home to a number of clubs.

Sport Aberdeen funding cut means it is faced with closure.

This is a petition to stop the closure, the local community needs to have facilities that are accessible for all age groups.

1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to swim. Aberdeen City - has 6 public swimming pools, if however both Bucksburn and the Beach Leisure shut we will be down to 4.

Aberdeen population estimate - Year June 2021 - 227,430.  Between 2001 and 2021, the population of Aberdeen City has increased by 7.3%. This is the 15th highest percentage change out of the 32 council areas in Scotland. Over the same period, Scotland’s population rose by 8.2%.

38,000 of which are 0-15 years of age.
