Hey neighbors — the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) is planning to cut a driveway straight through Bronx Park from Sagamore Street and Unionport Road into the NYPD Highway Patrol parking lot.

That means tearing up our park, cutting down beautiful old trees, and destroying animal habitats that make this green space so special. It also means more traffic, more noise, and less safety for everyone who lives nearby.

And here’s the worst part: they’re doing it without asking the community. Trees are already tagged for removal, and the work is being pushed forward behind closed doors.

There’s absolutely no reason for this project. The Highway Patrol already has two access points — from the Bronx River Parkway and Birchall Avenue. They don’t need a third one that runs right through our park.

Let’s make our voices heard before it’s too late! Tell the NYS DOT and our elected officials that we won’t stand by while they pave paradise to connect a parking lot.
