On August 1, 2023, 6 of 8 members of global K-pop group, ‘Stray Kids’, launched their individual Instagram accounts. Leader Bangchan began a chain of captions, with a positive phrase, a hashtag with their fandom STAY, and the date of the post. 

     Bangchan’s first post was captioned, “All smiles and positive energy #STAY #0802”. Fans were initially pleasantly surprised at the genuine happiness and optimism of his caption, but there have lately been people deeming his captions “cringy”. 

     On August 14, 2023, Bangchan changed all of his captions, removing his kind messages, leaving just the two hashtags of “STAY” and the date. He addressed on Bubble, an app where JYP idols can communicate to their fans, that he simply believed that they were cringy, and wanted to change them.

     Many fans are concerned that Bangchan changed his captions due to concern of others, and that he perhaps became self conscious about them. Fans are also a bit down, as Bangchan’s captions were a nice way to see what was going through his head at the time of his posting. 

     This petition is to raise awareness to Bangchan that we, Stays, do in fact love his captions. This petition is because we, Stays, don’t want him to feel self-conscious about them. This petition is to bring back Bangchan’s positive messages.
