The Peak District was the first designated National Park in the UK, and is one of the most visited national parks in the world. Bakewell is the largest settlement and only town in the Peak District. The only tourist information hub in Bakewell is the Visitor Centre.

The Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) are proposing to close all four of their visitor centres, including Bakewell, to cut costs. We cannot let this happen. One of the core purposes of the PDNPA is to the support tourism, key to the local economy.

The visitor centre offers tailor-made help and advice, enriching the individual visitor experience. It also gives retail space to local artists and artisans.

Please sign this petition to let the PDNPA know how valued the visitor centre is by locals and the many visitors to the Peak District. We would be grateful if you would also share one or two sentences about your experience of the visitor centre.
