Save Australia’s Federation pub - the little country pub with the big idea!

Let’s Save Australia’s Greatest Pub!
The little country pub with the BIG idea!

The Globe Hotel, Corowa NSW. The birthplace of Australia’s Federation. The home of the Federation Conference of 1893!

We couldn’t think of a better place to kick off our nation, than over a beer on a country pub verandah!

That local pub night in Corowa in 1893 led to Australia’s first Parliament in 1901.

Federation region it’s time for our government, business and community leaders to work together to buy The Globe Hotel’, restore it and make it the focal point of our national tourism campaign!

We need a big and ambitious plan to save our Australian heritage and use it to grow our regional tourism industry and jobs!  We’ve had big ideas work before, like the Federation of Australia. Why not now?

The old Globe Hotel, Corowa, New South Wales, Australia. The original Globe Hotel was an eight room weatherboard building erected in 1860.

In 1893 Mrs Mary Chenhall, the Globe's licensee, demolished the original hotel and erected a new two storey brick building with verandah and balcony along the length of the upper storey. it was completed prior to the Federation Conference in Corowa in July 1893.

On the evening of the 31st July 1893, Mrs Chenhall served a dinner consisting of a cold collation to 150 male guests including the 74 Conference delegates. The guests ate their sit down dinner outside on the hotel's verandah, even though it was the middle of winter.

Time to have your say! Tell-’em to save this unique Aussie heritage gem, for future generations to enjoy!

We’re for Australian heritage, tourism and jobs!
We can all say cheers to that!
