The Issue

TELL THE PARK BOARD TO SAVE ANDERSON DAY! ACT BEFORE JANUARY 13

At the November meeting of the Anderson Park District Board of Park Commissioners, members celebrated the success of Oktoberfest while seemingly suggesting that it should replace Anderson Day as the community's signature park event.

Next Tuesday, January 13, at 6 p.m., we expect the park board to weigh in on the future of the signature event. People in the know are concerned that action will take place on Tuesday that would cancel Anderson Day, a community tradition for more than 25 years.

Why Anderson Day Matters

Oktoberfest was amazing, but it doesn’t replace Anderson Day, which is a universal event celebrating our community and parks, rather than a themed event.

Anderson Day is a tradition worth keeping, and one of the few remaining Anderson events that feature professional fireworks, with Coney Island closed. Also, what happened to “Keep Anderson Anderson?”

What We’re Asking

The voters of Anderson made their position clear in November by voting 2:1 in favor of funding park operations. We care about our parks. That’s why the Park District board needs to engage the community before deciding the fate of Anderson Day.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 8, I’m not aware of additional efforts made by the Park District or its foundation to find new sponsors or partners for the event. In fact, we’ve been told that some partners aren’t aware that Anderson Day is even up for debate.  Your park leaders need to know that you care about Anderson Day and that you believe community input is important before big decisions are made.

Make your voice heard by signing and sharing this petition, and then show up to the Park District Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 13, at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Juilfs Park Office, 8249 Clough Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45244.
