The Trump Administration’s latest budget proposal slashes funding for the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program by 25%. And worse, it opens the door to mass slaughter.

Over 64,000 federally protected horses and burros could be killed simply because it’s cheaper than protecting them.

This isn’t just bad policy, it’s cruelty. Plain and simple.

Most Americans—80%—want these animals protected, not rounded up, penned, and killed. Humane alternatives like fertility control and habitat restoration are available, effective, and supported by science and public opinion. Yet this budget does the unthinkable: it revives a long-rejected plan to kill the very animals our government is legally required to safeguard.

We can’t let this happen.
