This Impact They're Looking For

Amazon decided to discontinue the AmazonSmile program because "the program has not grown to create the impact that we had originally hoped".
We believe that with better advertising, a higher donation percentage, and simpler access to the program, the impact would be far and above what they would've hoped.
- Better Advertising: as we are combing through the thoughts on social media about this decision, we have seen a startling number of people who did not know the AmazonSmile program existed. This is an area that definitely could be improved.
- Higher Donation Percentage: at .5%, our dachshund rescue accrued $2,444.51 in 2022. If Amazon raised the donation percentage to .7%, that would show an increase of $977.80-- nearly a thousand more dollar for our small nononprofihNow let's apply it on a big scale. If Amazon had chosen .7% to begin with, the worldwide charity donation amount would go from $449,385,194 at .5% to $629,130,268.80 at .7%. That's an increase of $179,754,076.80 into the nonprofits of the world by a tiny .2% increase. Imagine what .9% would look like!
- Accessibility: Imagine if AmazonSmile was the default and it was a choice to turn it OFF rather than the other way around? Currently, you either need to shop at smile.amazon.com or have the option turned on in your app (fairly buried in the options). If this program were easier to use, the impact would be MUCH greater.
What do YOU think Amazon could do to make a bigger impact without cutting out the "little guys"?
YOU can make an impact right now by sharing this petition on your social media, via email, text, and by word of mouth! Ask others to stand up for the "little guys" who work so hard in our communities.
