Save Alabama State Parks
Save Alabama State Parks
The Issue
The Alabama State Legislature is considering budget cuts that will end funding to our state parks. Blakeley State Park in Spanish Fort, AL, is one such threatened landmark.
Not only do these parks provide us with safe, educational environments to experience our state's natural beauty and rich history, they also provide hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs for men and women statewide. Blakeley State Park is a safe place for families because of the efforts of its dedicated staff. Without these men and women, the Park could not exist, and without the park, the animals within it would not be protected, either, and the history of the old town and the battlefield would be lost.
If we allow the state government to cut funding to our parks, we allow ourselves and our children to be robbed of these treasures of our heritage. Sign and urge our legislators to vote AGAINST the budget cuts.
