Many thanks to Dan Brotman of the Glendale City Council for his response here and via email, and for kindly posting this video on Instagram on 4/08 saying he’s actively exploring ways to help save Acapulco while the appeal is under review and is buying us some time.  It means a lot to know that someone at City Hall is listening and working on this.

Quick reminder: the appeal deadline is tomorrow, April 13 at 5 PM.  The official appeal I submitted to the City clearly shows that this proposed car wash violates Glendale Municipal Code Section 30.34.030(B)(4).  The project is in direct conflict with the second part of (B)(4) in the code: "...there shall be no vehicular access ways along any frontage where the property directly across the street is located in any residential zone."  That is how the law is written, and this project is breaking the law, plain and simple.  If upheld, this appeal could stop the project and buy us more valuable time.  But Acapulco’s long-term fate still remains very uncertain.

Fewer than 1% of petitions ever reach 1,600 signatures — and we surpassed that number in less than two weeks.  That didn’t happen because of me, but because of the community’s deep love for this restaurant.

Let's keep going.
