Hello Neighbors,
When I learned that the City of Glendale approved Acapulco's demolition, I shared the news on Facebook. I wasn’t expecting much. Instead, the response was immediate and overwhelming. The post spread quickly, people began sharing their own memories, and I was even urged to start this petition — which has been gaining real momentum. So thank you all for signing and sharing. Your support shows that our community does have a voice, so let’s keep up the momentum.
Fewer than 4% of all petitions ever reach 1,000+ signatures—a milestone we surpassed in well under a week. But there’s still work to do in this uphill battle.
I submitted an official appeal to the City, identifying the provision of law that would be violated in the approved car wash proposal, no matter how the developer tries to tweak it.
Here’s a simple step you can take right now. Email citycouncil@glendaleca.gov and ask the Glendale City Council to nominate Acapulco for historic preservation. This strong community response we're seeing certainly warrants the nomination. It may be a long shot to actually achieve it, but even a single nomination would act as a pause button, giving the project time for further review and perhaps even more community input.
This demolition isn’t what the people of Glendale want. And the response we’re seeing right now proves that.
