Save a vital, sexual abuse and rape support charity in Lancashire

Save a vital, sexual abuse and rape support charity in Lancashire
The Issue
We need your help! A vital service for Lancashire is under threat of disappearing.
Survivors of childhood sexual abuse and rape in Lancashire, might soon be without a vital support service. Lancashire residents who have experienced the trauma of sexual violence, are at risk of being left to deal with the devastating impact of their experiences, all alone.
Trust House Lancashire, a specialist counselling and support service, may soon need to close its doors due to a significant shortfall in their funding. In 2023 the Ministry of Justice had no funds allocated to support us, we were able to reorganise our ways of working and thanks to other income generation there was no disruption to our service however due to the future funding landscape we now face potential closure and need to raise £500,000 by 31st March 2025.
Since 2013, Trust House Lancashire has been providing specialist counselling and support services for survivors of rape and sexual abuse across Lancashire. We receive approximately 3 new referrals per-day, for clients aged from just 4 years old.
We deliver hundreds of sessions each month, where our dedicated group of therapists and support workers help survivors to heal from the emotional and psychological wounds caused by their experiences. We receive referrals from community mental health teams, local support services and the NHS, as they can’t offer the specialised support needed for this vulnerable group.
Becoming a victim of sexual abuse, sexual violence or rape can lead to mental health issues that can last a lifetime and day to day living can be a challenge for the clients that we see.
Our work improves mental health by reducing self-harm, reducing suicidal thoughts, managing depression, managing anxiety and stress, improving sleep and reducing trauma symptoms such as flashbacks and panic attacks.
These victims and survivors need our help, they need us to be here for them in their most desperate times of need.
Please spread the word, so that we can petition the Ministry of Justice to provide the much-needed funds that will enable us to continue our vital work.
