The proposed sale of 2 Hudson Street, Bayswater, directly impacts hundreds of local families, their children, and the wider community who rely on this vital facility. This site is currently home to two active playgroup services, Casa Mia Montessori Playgroup and Bayswater Playgroup, which together provide essential early childhood development and parent support for eight mornings every week. Beyond playgroup hours, the premises are consistently utilised for private party hires on both weekend days, making it a true community hub. Losing this site would leave countless families without an accessible and affordable space for their children's growth and their own support networks, creating a significant void in our community infrastructure.

If the City of Bayswater proceeds with the sale of 2 Hudson Street, we stand to lose an irreplaceable community asset. The Council's own report acknowledges that "no suitable relocation options were available" for our playgroups, meaning this sale would effectively displace a long-standing and highly valued service with no viable alternative in sight. This decision would prioritise short-term financial gain over the long-term well-being and liveability of our community, eroding the very fabric of local support systems for young families. The closure of these playgroups would not only disrupt essential services but also diminish opportunities for social connection and community engagement in Bayswater.

The City of Bayswater Council is considering this proposal at their upcoming meeting on July 22nd.
