Sapulpa Board of Education - Allow Small Nose Stud Piercing

Sapulpa Board of Education - Allow Small Nose Stud Piercing
The Issue
Sapulpa High School Handbook states on page 69 under Accessories, that Visible pierced jewelry shall be limited to the ear. If the jewelry isn't "visible" then why can't the High School students wear a nose ring covered by a band-aid? or wear a clear bone stud just through the hole, so the piercing hole does not close?
The administration is picking and choosing what students have to follow these rules, and which ones don't, with the excuse "As they see the piercings, they take action. It's impossible to catch them all". This is an excuse! If they are so concerned with nose piercings, why are the teachers not walking the aisles of the class room as each period starts and addressing any students with a nose piercing?
TREAT THEM ALL THE SAME OR CHANGE OR POLICY !!!!
Having a nose ring, does not make you good or bad, affect your grades, or even disrupt classroom teachings.
When your child is taking a math test, they are not concerned about a small stud in the Childs nose next to them.
We need to encourage the Board of Education to take another look at the dress code and make the small modification to this section, as there is nothing to substantiate that a nose ring will cause disruption in school.
