Santa Cruz County Greenway

Sep 29, 2017
The RTC is hosting 2 Unified Corridor Study (UCS) workshops next week:
Monday, 10/2 from 6-7:30 pm @ Watsonville Public Library
Tuesday, 10/3 from 6-7:30 pm @ Live Oak Elementary
They are planning a roundtable format. Please consider coming to listen to other community members and share your thoughts.
Greenway supporters who attend can help others to understand Greenway's vision to provide safe, healthy transportation for Santa Cruz County.
We advocate:
ACTIVATING the entire corridor as a vibrant linear park that CONNECTS neighborhoods and INSPIRES an active and engaged community
PROTECTING the beauty of our corridor and SAVING our trees for future generations
Transforming UNSAFE, decaying rail infrastructure into a positive community asset
Using the existing rail bed and trestles to complete a 32-mile Greenway without UNSAFE detours
Designing Greenway to SAFELY separate people on bicycles from runners, wheelchair users, or people walking with children or pets
A wide, separated Greenway that will SAFELY accommodate and encourage a growing population of bicycle and e-bike commuters
Taking advantage of the minimal grade of the railbed to build a fully ADA compliant, accessible trail that will give people with varying abilities a SAFE, HEALTHY way to get where they want to go
Building a network of PROTECTED bicycle lanes connecting Greenway to major employers, schools, and other destinations to make commuting by bicycle or e-bike SAFE and convenient options
Greenway is PRO-TRANSIT and advocates modernizing our bus system and implementing other forward-thinking transit solutions located in the right places to get people to and from our major employers, schools, destinations, and bicycle and pedestrian routes.
