Petition update"Stop High Density Zoning for Water St and Soquel Ave. in Santa Cruz, Calif.”August 15 Meeting. Express your views on huge project on West Cliff Dr.
S BurkSanta Cruz, CA, United States
Jul 26, 2019

Be aware of what is being planned for your town in one of the favorite locations of local Santa Cruz residents - West Cliff Drive at Bay Street

Plan to attend the August 15 meeting in force to make it clearly known what we locals think of the development which includes 5 story structures, (See the rendering to count the 5 stories) 89 living units, and  8,265 sq ft of retail. Constructed buildings will be 159,560 sq ft on 2.2 acres of land. This is a huge amount of density in a relatively small area in one of the most beautiful and busy intersections of Santa Cruz. This intersection is near to tour bus drop-offs, students traveling up Bay to UCSC, homeowners, surfers to Cowels Beach, many tourists and locals favorite spots. The planned project is asking for your input. This is a very dense project.
Too much traffic with little benefit to locals. Do we need more shops when the nearby wharf businesses struggle at times, do we need more restaurants when nearby restaurants are not as full as they could be? Do we need more pollution, congestion and noise in our Santa Cruz?
Remember this is your Santa Cruz if you care enough to attend the August 15, 2019, meeting it will still be your Santa Cruz. The meeting is located in the City Council Chambers on Center St., in Santa Cruz.
Mark your calendars. Now is the time to speak up. Public comment is during this meeting. Also, scroll down on this page to flood the Planning Commission with your thoughts. 190 West Cliff | City of Santa Cruz

Write multiple times to assure your voice is heard. Don't let our town
be inundated with things we do not want or need. There are other projects in the works for low-income housing. The 10 purposed units of low-income housing for what the residents of Santa Cruz would give up does not make sense. Plan to attend August 15.  Your voice and comments are critical.
