With the pandemic of COVID-19 resulting in schools canceling University/College in-person classes across United States, a large number of students risk being displaced without resources or housing. This petition aims to convince Santa Clara University (in particular, housing administration) to give students the choice to keep their on-campus or school associated housing until the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

The effects of displacing students could lead to many being unable to travel home, due to cost or because of travel bans. Giving students the choice to stay in their housing respects the rights of the students, and could save many from being displaced and functionally homeless.  

Moving all of the students in NUs to a dorm to "consolidate" goes against social distancing policies that are so important in this pandemic. Forcing everyone to leave also breaks up the entire community and chosen families formed on Bellomy street. Please do not force students to move out in these already challenging times.
