Amend the Revenue Code of Puerto Princesa City to comply with BMBE Law

Amend the Revenue Code of Puerto Princesa City to comply with BMBE Law
The Issue
RA 9178 or more popularly known as BMBE (Barangay Micro Business Entrerprise) Law of 2002, grants tax exemption or incentives to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to generate much needed employment and alleviate poverty. Among the tax incentives granted under the said law is either exemption from or reduced business tax and fee rates for qualified BMBE registrants. While the City Revenue Code grants tax and/or regulatory fee exemption to certain persons, groups, or industries, qualified BMBE registrants are not one among them. A push from like-minded City taxpayers might prompt our city legislators to amend the Revenue Code to make it compliant with BMBE Law.
