Through this petition, my goal is to reduce the amount of hours us Sandra Day O’Connor High School students attend our zoom classes. Here are some reasons this should be changed.

     For starters, students may not have multiple electronics for zoom and there work(some teachers screenshare and make you follow along) making it difficult for students with only their ipad to complete assignments and learn.

     Next, the usage of internet and band width. When sitting on zoom for 6 hours a day, the usage of internet will sky rocket causing parents to pay more monthly, which can be extremely difficult for more unfortunate families.

     I think an easy solution to this problem is having 30 minute-1 hour zoom explaining how to do the assignment and further instructions, then teachers should release us to further complete out assignments for that day.

     Some people may come back with responses such as what if you’re taking a quiz and cameras need to be on or maybe a student needs help with the assignment. My simple response to that is the teacher keeping a zoom class open for students to join and ask their questions. By doing this, less students will be in the zoom, making it easier for shy students to get the help they need without feeling scared or embarrassed.
