Lacrosse has been a big part of my life and many others' in our community. Unfortunately, our city lacrosse team is struggling, and without new players, it faces the possibility of dying out completely. This issue hits home, and it's one of the reasons we're urging Beech High School to sanction lacrosse as an official school sport.

Beech High School is located in Hendersonville, Tennessee, a community that is rich with young athletic talent and enthusiasm for sports. However, despite this fervor, the absence of an official lacrosse program at Beech High means budding lacrosse players lack the institutional support they need to flourish and showcase their talents. By sanctioning lacrosse, the school would not only rejuvenate the local lacrosse scene but also offer students an invaluable opportunity to develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Tens of thousands of students across America benefit from playing high school sports, with lacrosse being a fast-growing sport nationwide. According to US Lacrosse, participation has exploded, with over 300,000 high school players, marking a significant increase over the past decade. Establishing a lacrosse program at Beech High would align with this national trend and place our school at the forefront of fostering athletic diversity.

More than just a game, lacrosse encourages physical fitness, strategic thinking, and community spirit. Integrating lacrosse would also enhance school spirit and bring together students, parents, and faculty in ways other sports might not. It's a magnet for community support, as well as a showcase for what students can achieve both on and off the field.

We propose scheduling tryouts, hiring qualified coaching staff, and investing in essential equipment. This initial commitment will lay the groundwork for the program’s success and ensure that the legacy of lacrosse continues to thrive in Hendersonville.
