San Francisco is beautiful, diverse, and rich in history, but it is being threatened by the slow crawl of gentrification.  Google tells us that the definition of gentrification is "the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste", but I think I speak for most native San Franciscans when I say that it's taken a much more sinister turn here.  People are being forced out of places they've lived for decades, rent is going through the roof, and the overall cost to live here is becoming unacceptable.  With this petition I am looking to simply raise awareness within our city and our local government and pressure the people who can institute positive change into actually DOING it.  This petition will help to serve as a voice for me and all of the other citizens who feel voiceless.
