When African elephants want to play, they will play roughly with other elephants. To another African elephant the playfulness would be fine, but to an Asian elephant it can be read as agression which leads to confilct. This can be prevented. Secondly, zoos such as the San Diego Zoo should not have an elephant exhibit in the first place. Elephants in the wild walk around 30 to 50 miles a day. But in zoos, elephants are nowhere near walking that distance. They are not getting the exercise they need. San Diego Zoo should consider following the great example set by the San Fransisco Zoo who ended their elephant exhibit because it is not in the best interests of the elephants.
