Remove Adela de la Torre from the President position at San Diego State University

Remove Adela de la Torre from the President position at San Diego State University
The Issue
President Adela de la Torre is not the leader that San Diego State University wants or deserves. She was a part of the administration that attempted to hide the police brutality against non-threatening students at UC Davis in 2011. She used and continues to use students tuition money in a wasteful and selfish manner. In April 2019, she staged an inauguration for herself in which she spent $162,000 dollars to put up giant posters of herself all over campus and held an inauguration in Viejas arena where only a mere 2,000 people showed up(capacity-12,000).
In 2016, she was apart of a scandal at UC Davis related to family ties and her rapidly increasing salary. She denied investigators access to her emails and when access was finally received, emails were found to be routed to her personal email. Interesting how she also received a raise less than 1 week into her presidency at SDSU. She makes nearly half a million dollars a year.
Adela has made it clear greek organizations have no place at SDSU. After the tragic death of a student falling out of a bunkbed, de la Torre placed all fraternities into a suspension. She then launched a task force costing thousands of dollars of student’s money. This task force took from November 2019 until June of 2020 to finish its report for greek organizations and to come up with vague recommendations of things to do to keep the school more on top of what was happening in the “hour-to-hour” activities of greek life. Despite how short this last year was due to the outbreak of Covid-19, more greek organizations were permanently removed from campus and put on suspensions than the last 3 years combined.
Adela de la Torre is not a good leader and the SDSU community demands change.
