Honor Captain Moreno's sacrifice; don't deport her mother

US Army Captain Jennifer Moreno, was killed in action in Afghanistan in October, 2013 after she knowingly entered a booby trapped area to provide medical aid to injured members of her unit. For her valor, she was awarded the Bronze Star. Now Immigration and Customs Enforcement is moving to deport her mother, Maria Cordova.
Jennifer wasn't the only hero that Maria raised. Her only son, Ivan, is currently serving as a sergeant in the US Army and has already served three combat tours; two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
Maria's three surviving children are requesting that their mother Maria be granted a Stay of Removal to honor the sacrifice Jennifer made for this country and to keep what's left of their family intact. Maria has made mistakes that led to her facing this deportation, but as a country we must ask ourselves: Why should Maria be punished more severely than a US citizen with the same convictions would be when Maria has sacrificed more than most US citizens could even imagine?
The sacrifice Maria and her children have made for this country have earned her our eternal gratitude. It should also have earned her the right to remain in this country in order to care for her surviving children struggling over their sister's death, to be close to the resting place of Jennifer at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, and to know that the country her daughter fought and died for will never turn its back on her.
Please sign our petition asking Director Archambeault to grant Maria Cordova a Stay of Removal.
