Why this petition matters

It is our view that action to take full and proper account of animal protection in our constitution is long overdue. Animal protection is an important ethical and political question governed by internationally agreed standards commanding major public support, and we feel that the time to rectify this omission is long overdue.
I am writing on behalf of San Carlos Animal Rescuers and Adopters (SCARA6127). Over the past few months, we have been saving stray, abandoned, surrendered, homeless and street animals caught by our City Pound workers as per stated by our City Ordinance. These animals caught wait in turn to be euthanized should they not be claimed by their owners. Which is why our organization was built in the first place, to save them from being thrown in to death row and find them their “furever” homes where they are given the love and care they so much deserve. And just this month, three of our hardworking SCARA Rangers has initiated to save the dogs and cats that are being surrendered by their owners at our beautiful Sipaway Island. The said owners have complained on how to feed them as their livelihood (they mostly rely on their tourism generated income) are being struck hard due to this pandemic.
Our organization’s mission to save these animals is only made possible through the generous funding we have received from members of our community and animal-loving people around the Philippines. This year, we hope to build a shelter for them and we are specifically seeking donations to fund it.
Our organization is committed to protecting the welfare and well-being of animals, ensuring full and sustainable sanctuary is given to them in human care. SCARA is not a lobbying organization and we believe we can surely make a change. Help us help them.
Any support will be highly appreciated by us and the dogs and cats we provide a shelter to.
