We hereby as members of the Samson Cree Nation are advocating for a higher percentage of the settlement monies be given out to band members. We as members have witnessed for too long the misuse of funds while a majority of members live in poverty. The nation was given a $134 million dollar settlement and the leadership thinks they are entitled to keep 80% of the funds and 45% of which is claiming for allocating those funds for things that are already government funded things such 35% being for infrastructure which is funded already and 10% for programs again which are already funded all which can be viewed on the government of Canada website. 

This petition is to strongly suggest We the members of Samson Cree Nation have a proper say in how the funds are allocated. We have sat back for far too long without a proper voice and in situations like this Social Media has given us a means of having a voice and a joint community.

.Our Nation was once the richest reserve in Canada but due to misappropriation of funds throughout the years we no longer are. This is the reasoning behind this petition at hand. Not all of our Nation members have an income and a higher percentage of payout from the settlement will greatly help many families out that are living in poverty especially before the holiday season.
