Issue 1 is the state of Ohio's defense of marriage amendment that amended the Ohio Constitution to make it unconstitutional for the state to recognize or perform same-sex marriages or civil unions. The referendum was approved by 62% of the voters in 2004. It has been 6 years since voters approved the ban, and it is now time that we get a petition to be submitted to Ohio election officials to get it put back on the ballot. More americans are supporting gay rights, and the people that approved the ban in 2004, might vote to get the issue back on the ballot.
