Bring back dedicated community Policing in Merseyside - to combat ASB and Crime

The Issue

All across Merseyside and indeed the whole country we are seeing and increase daily in reports of Anti Social Behaviour and crime. There can hardly be a single person in the country who has not been affected.  Families, children, businesses and communities, coping with burglaries, thefts, assaults, drug and alcohol fuelled crime and anti social behaviour and the effect that has on our quality of life. We are left exhausted by trying to report incidents, on 999, 101 and social media platforms. Frustrated by the explanation, that incidents will be recorded as a no crime, due no leads to follow.  Or lack of powers to stop and search. Then enduring the financial impact of insurance costs rising. Being unable to enjoy community spaces or feel confident that our children will be safe to go out riding their bikes, for fear of them being victimised.

Lack of community Policing, means the Police are just responding to events, rather than working with the community to reduce the fear of ASB and crime, and be able to respond based on intelligence and local knowledge.
Police need to have resources, and powers to reduce fear of crime, actual crime and improve quality of life for residents. This quality local knowledge will also support the anti terrorist teams, in gathering intelligence and recognising shifts in behaviour.

Stop the cuts and finance the police properly. Allow the Home Secretary the facility to utilise the Proceeds of Crime Act to fund Policing.  Look at youth crime and behaviour and explore all options to bring about swift and sustainable change. Let's hold the government to account in finding solutions and looking to the future.
