Safety In Our Neighborhood Movement!!!

Safety In Our Neighborhood Movement!!!
The Issue
Dear Councilwoman,
We are writing as deeply concerned homeowners and a small business owner seeking your immediate assistance, protection, and action. My family recently purchased our home on the 300 block of East Judson. In the short span of two months, we have witnessed numerous shootings directly on our street.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, we reached out to fellow homeowners to share our concerns and discuss measures to safeguard our homes — places intended to be safe havens for our families. Through these conversations, we learned that multiple properties have been impacted, with homes and vehicles being damaged by gunfire. Despite these serious incidents, there has been little visible response or effort to address or resolve these crimes.
Furthermore, we are experiencing rampant speeding through our neighborhood, putting our many young children at serious risk. More than 60% of the residents on our street have small children, and the lack of traffic control only compounds the danger we are facing daily.
We respectfully but urgently request that you advocate on our behalf. We believe the installation of surveillance cameras would significantly assist the Youngstown Police Department in both solving and deterring criminal activity. Additionally, we strongly urge the implementation of speed humps to reduce excessive speeding and restore safety to our residential streets.
We trust you will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. Our community is relying on your leadership to help us reclaim the safety and peace we deserve.
