Petition to Safeguard Bangladeshi Families and Students: Urgent Appeal for Justice and Protection
We, the undersigned residents of Australia, urgently seek the Australian Government's immediate attention and support regarding the dire situation in Bangladesh. Our families and loved ones are in grave danger due to recent violence against the students. We are also in the dark due to a complete communication blackout by the Bangladeshi Government. Many of us are unable to contact our families, causing immense stress and anxiety.
From different sources, we have received alarming reports that members of the ruling party Bangladesh Awami League (BAL) and its student wing, the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), with the help of Bangladesh Police and Rapid Action Battalion Force (RAB), are forcibly entering homes and killing students who dared to speak out for democratic reforms and justice. It is unacceptable for anyone to be killed for peacefully advocating for change in a democratic nation.
As of July 20, more than 100 protesters, including school and college-going students, have been killed by Bangladesh Police, RAB, the ruling party's student wing BCL. The dreadfulness is believed to be much more significant as the Government's decision to shut down the entire communication network, including the internet, has exacerbated the situation. These state-sponsored atrocities are blatant violations of Bangladesh's constitution and human rights, posing a severe threat to democracy.
We stand in awe of the courageous students of Bangladesh who are bravely protesting against the autocratic Government of Bangladesh and its brutal treatment of its citizens. Their bravery inspires us to stand in solidarity with them.
We call on the Government of Australia to:
- To take immediate action and vigorously advocate to the Bangladesh government for the safety and protection of Bangladeshi students and citizens.
- Ask the Bangladesh government to cease all violence against protesters immediately.
- Put sanctions against the members of the Government participating in the heinous crime against humanity.
- Enlist the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) as an armed terrorist organisation.
We also appeal to the international community, including diplomatic missions in Bangladesh and human rights organisations, to support this cause and take necessary measures to ensure that the Bangladeshi Government upholds justice and equality.
Please sign this petition to support the brave students fighting for a fair process and justice in Bangladesh. Together, we can amplify their voices and demand the change and justice they deserve.
Sign and share now and stand with the students of Bangladesh!
