Safe water, healthy kids

Safe water, healthy kids
The Issue
Clean water. Turn on the faucet, it's there. Fill your glass, take a sip. Simple as that.
Unfortunately, that's not the case in much of the developing world. There, water is often a haven for killer diseases. In fact, waterborne illness is the second largest cause of death for children under age five.
For the 2.5 billion people who lack access to improved sanitation facilities and the nearly 900 million people who still must use unsafe drinking water resources, each sip of water is potentially lethal.
UNICEF is working in more than 90 countries to change that.
Through UNICEF WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) programs, we are improving water supplies and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and promoting safe hygiene practices.
Everyone deserves to know that the water they drink is safe, and with your help UNICEF will keep working until they do.
