Safe Sidewalk for Students walking to WFHS

The Issue

Too many times, we've all had heart-stopping moments as we've watched teen drivers speed to get to school on time or to maximize their lunch break, narrowly missing pedestrians.

The stretch of Pine Avenue from Main Street to Rock Spring has become a potential collision zone due to the lack of a sidewalk leaving scores of students and other pedestrians vulnerable.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2018, nearly 6,300 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in the United States, reflecting the very real dangers faced by pedestrians on our roads daily.

As Wake Forest residents who love and respect the safety of our community, we call upon the local city planners and decision-makers to consider these concerns and implement a safe sidewalk on Pine Avenue.

Let's take action to prevent potential accidents and ensure the safety of all students.

Sign this petition to request authorities to build a sidewalk to protect our pedestrians, students, and everyone who enjoys walking in our scenic downtown.
