While the university has progressively expanded academic programs and overall student intake, residential infrastructure has not kept pace. This severe deficit has led to critical challenges across campus:

1. Safety Risks and Parental Distress Regarding Private PGs: Due to the low availability of on-campus rooms, hundreds of students are forced into unregulated private PGs and rented accommodations. In light of recent fatal building collapses and safety violations in student PGs across Delhi, parents are understandably terrified and reluctant to risk their children's lives in unauthorized, uninspected commercial setups lacking emergency exits and fire clearance. Leaving young outstation students with no choice but to trust such hazard-prone commercial setups is an unacceptable compromise on our right to safety.
2. Extremely Low Residential Capacity Relative to Student Intake:
   

   While NSUT has progressively scaled up student intake, residential infrastructure has lagged drastically behind. Resulting in countless students with no choice but to spend valuable hours commuting every day. This not only affects our academic performance but also our mental health and social life. Sister Delhi State institutions facing similar demographic surges have proactively addressed this issue. Notably, Delhi Technological University (DTU) successfully constructed and inaugurated massive multi-storey hostel facilities (adding accommodation for over 1,000 students). NSUT possesses ample campus land and must urgently pursue similar infrastructural development to support its student body.

3. Substandard Living Conditions and Sanitation in Existing Hostels: The limited existing hostel blocks are overburdened. Residents consistently face poor sanitation, unhygienic washrooms, frequent maintenance delays, and insufficient basic amenities. Expanding capacity must be coupled with dignified, clean, and well-maintained living conditions for existing residents.

We urge the administration of NSUT and relevant Delhi governmental bodies to prioritize the construction of new student hostels. This expansion is necessary to alleviate the current burden on students and ensure that all those in need have access to safe, affordable, and proximate living arrangements. Investing in more hostel facilities will not only support the physical and mental well-being of students but also enhance their academic success and university experience.

In addressing this pressing issue, NSUT can set a precedent for student welfare that prioritizes residents' needs and fosters an inclusive community catering to students from all walks of life.
