The Issue

As a resident of the wonderful community of Harriet Creek Ranch in Justin, TX and a mother of two young children, I have a vested interest in ensuring our neighborhood park remains a safe and vibrant space for families and the wider community to enjoy. Hosting for a local playgroup, NFW Littles, I have seen firsthand the joy and development that time spent outdoors can bring to our children. However, since moving to this neighborhood just a year ago, I've witnessed a steady decline in the park’s condition.

It's disheartening to see such potential wasted because of poor maintenance, inadequate facilities, and security issues. Not only do these conditions deter families from enjoying the park, but they also pose safety risks to the children who dare to play there.

Our park should be a haven for all, encouraging healthy lifestyles, community engagement, and offering a safe space for children to play. To achieve this, I propose a comprehensive plan that includes repairing broken equipment, removing the graffiti vandalism, added lighting for evening activities, and increased security measures, including the installation of surveillance cameras. Most importantly the discontinued use of woodchips as the playground filler. I propose a full replacement of a rubber-type flooring, like pour in place rubber, or AstroTurf.

To preserve the integrity and enjoyment of our neighborhood park, we need action and commitment from our local authorities, and with community support, we can make this possible. By signing this petition, you stand with us in advocating for a safe, clean, and upgraded park that our families and future generations can cherish. Let’s work together to bring positive change to our community!

The park in question is located at: 16337 Cowboy Trail, Justin, TX 76247
