Did you know The South Kilburn Regeneration Programme is at Risk of being cancelled?
Brent Council is currently conducting a ballot to ask whether residents support the Regeneration Programme and want to see it materialize or not. A “no” result would mean a possible end to the regeneration. Only a limited number of local residents have been made eligible to vote excluding a significant amount of the South Kilburn population from a decision that impacts everyone.
We the undersigned ask the Mayor of London to review the eligibility criteria of the South Kilburn Residents’ Ballot (Sep 20 to Oct 14) organised by Brent Council to ensure all residents in the South Kilburn Estate have a say on a decision that could define the future of our neighborhood for generations to come.
The South Kilburn Regeneration Programme is a 15-year program that is almost halfway through. It aims to bring safety and quality of life to a long-troubled neighbourhood whilst transforming the area into a sustainable and mixed neighbourhood and creating a real sense of place and belonging.
The Programme aims to deliver the following:
- 2,400 new high-quality homes of which around 1,400 will be made available to existing South Kilburn existing secure tenants
- A new larger high-quality urban park and improved public realm
- A new primary school and health facilities
- New retail facilities
- Improved environmental standards and a site-wide energy solution
