Good news and bad news. Good news; Saddleworth Parish Council have dissolved all committees that Mike Buckley works on and reappointed new members, effectively removing all of his powers on the council. In reply to this, he has requested "a leave of absence" Bad news; Mr Buckley still refuses to resign. Furthermore at last night's meeting a number of councillors, including prominent member Pam Byrne, described my campaign as a "witch hunt", inferring that Mr Buckley is being victimised. This is how it works. This is how dangerous convicted criminals absolve themselves of all responsibility, by social intimidation and playing the "victim card". Remember Rochdale? Remember the BBC? This is exactly what happens; people so desperate to hold on to power they won't speak up or publicly challenge views they privately see as abhorrent. I'm not challenging Mr Buckley's conviction and I fully support the rehabilitation of convicted criminals. What I don't support however is the arrogant, selfish and manipulative behaviour displayed recently by a man who, at the very least, should have apologised for his crimes and retreated from public office. The message Mr Buckley is currently sending out to victims of child abuse is that his crimes are irrelevant and should have no consequences in decent society. The message I'm sending out is Zero Tolerance. 700 signatures so far. Thank you. The fight goes on...
