The Issue
We request the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately sack the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
According to media reports and the complaint filed by the parents of a 17-year-old minor girl in Hyderabad, Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has been booked under the POCSO Act over allegations of repeated sexual assault and abuse.
Bhageerath allegedly subjected the victim to severe emotional and psychological trauma, reportedly driving her to the brink of suicide. Despite the seriousness of the allegations and growing public concern, no arrest has reportedly been made so far.
What makes this matter even more alarming are the allegations made by the victim’s mother that Bandi Sanjay himself attempted to intimidate the family, verbally abused them, and allegedly tried to malign the character of the minor victim.
Even during a recent public rally, Bandi Sanjay made indirect remarks that were perceived as intimidating and retaliatory towards the victim’s family. Such actions, if true, represent a shocking abuse of power and a direct threat to the integrity of the investigation.
When a sitting Union Minister holding responsibilities connected to Home Affairs is accused of influencing or intimidating the victim’s family in a sensitive POCSO case, it raises grave concerns about whether justice can truly be delivered without fear or political interference. We fear that the continuation of Bandi Sanjay in office could hamper the investigation and affect the impartial functioning of the police machinery.
At a time when the central government proudly promotes slogans such as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ and emphasizes women-centric issues at the national level, the entire country is watching how the BJP responds to this issue, which has already drawn national attention.
Justice must not depend on political position, family background, or influence. Therefore, we demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately remove Bandi Sanjay from the Union Cabinet to ensure a fair, transparent, and unbiased investigation.
This is not about politics. This is about justice, safety, and the dignity of every minor girl in this country.
No one is above the law.
