Matthew Nicholls, an AFL "umpire" awarded a free kick to Fremantle because a Collingwood player didn't directly give the ball to said umpire, instead passing it off to another Collingwood player, and then to the umpire, when in actuality that is not a rule and has never been a rule. Never have I seen or heard a free kick be given for that. There is no difference in a player putting the ball down for a boundary throw in instead of giving it directly to an umpire. Mathew Nicholls is the worst umpire to ever officiate an Australia rules football game, influenced the game in an unfair manner, and ultimately cost Collingwood the game
