Subject: Request for Early Cabinet Approval of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase 2A and Phase 2B
Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji,
Greetings from the people of Telangana, particularly from North Hyderabad.
As concerned citizens and members of Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi, we humbly draw your attention to the long-pending proposals for Hyderabad Metro Phase 2A and Phase 2B, essential for the sustainable development of one of India’s most rapidly growing metro cities.
Background & Submission Details:
The Telangana State Government submitted the Phase 2A proposal to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in the month of November 2024
The Phase 2B proposal was submitted under Letter No.Lr No 8532/Plg II/2025 MA&UD Dt 20.06.2025 of Secretary Govt Of Telangana, proposing crucial extensions into North Hyderabad.
Together, these phases cover over 162 km of new Metro lines with a combined cost of nearly ₹44,000 crore:
Phase 2A: ₹24,269 crore | 76.4 km
Phase 2B: ₹19,579 crore | 86.1 km
These corridors will connect underserved and densely populated regions like RGI Airport, Medchal, Shamirpet, Alwal, Kompally, Bolarum, Suchitra, Tirumalagiri, Lothkunta, Karkhana, Chandrayangutta, Kokapet, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar, and Nagole.
This expansion will directly benefit over 30 lakh citizens in North Hyderabad, reducing traffic congestion, supporting economic growth, and enhancing quality of life.
Our Appeal:
We respectfully request:
The Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Union Cabinet to expedite approval of Hyderabad Metro Phase 2A and Phase 2B.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and related departments to clear the proposals at the earliest.
Equal infrastructure support to Hyderabad as provided to other metro cities under the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
Why This Matters:
Hyderabad plays a pivotal role in India’s digital economy and urban innovation.
Delays in Metro connectivity are impacting daily lives, economic activity, and urban sustainability.
Timely approvals can ensure Phase 2 is completed before the city’s infrastructure is overwhelmed by its rapid growth.
