As all corners of the world are hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, nigh every country on the planet is taking precautionary measures to fight it. As for Malaysia, the government has enforced the Movement Control Order (MCO) that prohibits all non-essential businesses from running.

Because of this, for the majority of us parents at STTSS, our sources of income have been severely hindered, if not cut out entirely. As one of those whose income has been cut off entirely, I call on the school to reduce the monthly fees that are required to be paid by parents whose children are students of the school.

I applaud the school for offering lessons through means of the internet in order to provide our children with education even in the midst of this hard time when education through traditional means proves to be too risky for the spread of the virus. I understand that the teachers and the school are doing their best to help mitigate this problem that we are facing and I am relieved to know that the teachers are still getting paid even though they cannot physically conduct classes.

However, for a lot of us, we are not as lucky to have an income when the MCO is enforced. I understand that the school needs funds to pay the teachers and keep the operation running. Notwithstanding this, as a result of not physically conducting classes, the school's overhead expenses had been reduced drastically. I hope the school would provide support for parents during this time of need by reducing the fees of the students.

We hereby request the school to reduce the monthly fee for students by 25 percent for as long as lessons at school do not return to normal starting from May 2020.
