Monterey Downs and Horse Park and Veterans Cemetery (SPL-12-01) is a proposed land development directly behind the campus of CSUMB. It is expected to be over 700 acres of land. The city of Seaside plans to develop this project on land that is currently the wild, natural habitat of the former Fort Ord. Not only will it displace countless plant, animal, and other species of wildlife that reside there, but it will also introduce an increased amount of traffic on and around the CSUMB campus.
