Bring back Rutgersfest!

Bring back Rutgersfest!
The Issue
Rutgersfest, prior to its cancellation a few years back, was an annual event marking the end of the school year- a Rutgers tradition of 30 years. It was an event that brought the entire Rutgers community together to celebrate one last time before the start of summer. Students, faculty, staff, friends and families could all enjoy a free day of fun, laughter and entertainment. The festivities included free food and carnival games. In previous years, Rutgers has hosted an impressive lineup of bands and musicians, including Kanye West, 30h!3, Third Eye Blind, Pitbull and Sugar Ray.
The cancellation of Rutgersfest was due to an incident back in 2011, in which violent activity occurred off-campus, in New Brunswick (apart from Rutgersfest). No Rutgers students were harmed in this activity, nor were they known to have been involved. In order to keep the Rutgerfest tradition alive, students in past years have taken it upon themselves to come together in their own, small-scale, versions of the event. Because these small social gatherings are not regulated, as Rutgersfest was, police enforcement has been known to get involved, resulting in chaos and controversy.
Rutgersfest is a major event that requires major planning. Sign this petition to show your support in bringing back Rutgersfest in the near future.
*NOTE: This petition will not solely bring back Rutgersfest. It is just a way for the Rutgers student body, and Rutgers family and friends, to show the university just how much Rutgersfest is missed.
