In April 2021, the Russell County Fiscal Court entered into an agreement on the development of Industrial Solar Facility located in Russell County, Kentucky, near the beautiful Lake Cumberland. This agreement does not provide complete protections to county tax payers in the event something does not go as planned.

County officials have not articulated how this will benefit long-term job growth. Furthermore, they have not said exactly who will benefit from the electric generated. They have not answered fundamental questions regarding this project.

This project will be located on prime agriculture land & will threaten local ecosystems that many of our wildlife depend on. Additionally, property values could decrease as a result of nearly 500 acres being polluted with large-scale photovoltaic solar paneling.

We, the Citizens of Russell County, want a moratorium on all solar developments to further evaluate the full scope of possible impacts. 

We want the creation of a planning committee that implements a solar ordinance that protects our environment, rural landscape, property values, tourism, historical sites, and citizens.
