The 2008 legislation is very broad in what is considered bullying and harassment. This legislation also doesn't give our educators the correct tools to help students having these issues. This legislation is in need of updating to include training for our educators, a safe a confidential way for ALL students to notify school officials of issues with bullying and harassment (like an app), bullying prevention groups coming in and actually speaking to the students, getting students and staff the help that is needed. Students and staff are lashing out for help and we need to have preventions in place, steps to ensure safety for ALL students. We also need to have students both the bullied and the bullies provided with appropriate outlets to provide the help they need to be successful!  I don't have all the answers but I really do think we all need to take a hard look at this legislation as it is 10 years almost 11 years old and seriously needs some updating! Please help me start the change!
