This petition has been made to make students at the Ruislip High School Sixth Form more comfortable when endeavouring in their studies. The new dress code consists of 'smart casual' clothing. We understand this is to prepare us for the workplace but here are a number of reasons to reassess this decision.

1. Not all workplaces follow a smart casual dress code, for example being a plain clothes police officer, a primary school teacher or an athlete.

2. Nearly one-fifth of parents and carers have suffered financial hardship as a result of purchasing their child’s school uniform. By not having an extensive uniform policy, students will be able to wear whatever clothing they have at home (providing it is appropriate) and not have to spend additional money for preparing for Sixth Form.

3. The main differences to pupils between GCSEs and A-Levels is being able to express yourself more in your work. This should be upheld throughout the uniform policy. Self expression is very vital in social and individual development.
