Dear Readers
In my last update I warned readers that I did not expect any improvement with the new Labor Government over the previous Liberal one, and one of the petition comments from that last update expressed the same thoughts.
I thank Ellie Donovan for taking the time to make the comments as below. I will write to the new Minister for Agriculture very soon, and since I started this petition it will be the fourth one I have written to! Maybe fourth time lucky?
The Labor Party are a huge disappointment. They broke a campaign promise to end live export. Albanese now says it won't happen during his term in office.
Our only hope for change won't be found within the major parties. You are right Keith. Independents are desperately needed. People have to stop thinking the two party preferred is a necessary evil.
Corruption runs deep and a few cats are not even worthy of their time.
The RSPCA NSW could get even more money? I don't see them using any of the money they currently get to better the lives of abused or neglected cats and dogs.
On another topic, I recently learned that euthenised dogs are rendered for the pet food industry. This is also happening in the UK.
Rendering plants confirmed they regularly put dogs through the process, many with collars still attached. These dogs also have the cocktail of drugs that killed them still in their system.
The pet food industry is unregulated in Australia. Manufacturers can use whatever they like in their canned food or kibble. They are not accountable for any deaths related to the food they sell.
Disposing of dead animals it's a very costly business. My thoughts went straight to the RSPCA. They euthenise a large number of unwanted pets. Are the dogs coming from them?
No brand names were mentioned. Perhaps they all use dog meat from time to time.
Not only is it poisoning pets, think of mad cow disease. It began when cows were fed pellets that contained beef. Forcing cannibalism on an animal can have disastrous consequences.
We adopted a little dog 7 years ago. I did my homework before she came to live with us and discovered how healthy dogs are on a plant based diet. The brand I buy is human grade, balanced and nutritiously complete. It's also an Aussie company and a few other companies have popped up in the years since we started buying it.
She's 13 now and has the energy and alertness of a much younger dog.
I'm posting this here as this petition is of concern for animal lovers and people should know what they are feeding their fur babies.
Dogs all around the globe have been eating plant based food for well over 20 years. Why do people still object to something that's obviously healthy and adds years to the life of a most beloved family member?
The photo shows cats living in a small enclosure under appalling conditions. The white powder on the ground is lime! Not the best substance for any cat to sit down on!
