Dear Readers
In my last update I told you of my intentions to write to every MP in NSW regarding the failure of the RSPCA NSW to properly investigate the awful treatment that approximately 200 cats suffered at the hands of our neighbour when we lived in Cowra, and if they are re elected as an MP, to act to ensure that the governing body takes responsibility for how it spends tax payer monies.
I did write to every MP, and I received quite a few replies. Most of them just asked for my contact details, implying that if I did not live in their constituency it would not have any responsibility in acting. One told me that their would be an audit of animal welfare issues, in other words the RSPCA NSW could get even more money, and one MP wished me well in my endeavors.
I received no response from the Shadow Premier, Chris Minns. This is the second time I have written to him without a response, so I can only conclude that the Labor Party will be as indifferent to animal suffering as the Liberals have been.
Unfortunately I can only conclude that the incoming government will be just as complacent as the outgoing one in respect to animal rights! Maybe more independents are needed, and if a balance of power situation were to arise then there could be hope of improvement.
Regards, Keith
ps. the photo shows cats that were denied suitable accommodation and would often have to huddle together in winter time. Sometimes the temperature could drop to -3 or -4 degrees.
